BON VOYAGE to all those of FLOTILLA OF HOPE
They have already caught the interest of the mainstream media when they heroically set sail on this day May 15, 2004. When the history of this time is recorded this voyage by the Flotilla of Hope will be documented.
"I just want to say one thing about John Howard, he is a zombie,"
Quote of the day ~ Stavros Georgopoulos May 15, 2004.
"He's a zombie because he has a dead heart. No conscience. Now going to Nauru is not just for the refugees. We have no grievance with the Nauruan people. The Nauruan people are beautiful people. They have been forced, absolutely forced to take on this concentration camp in Nauru."

There is a strange synchronicity in other events that happened on this day in history:-
- 2000: Those involved in the historic Dunkirk Flotilla of tiny civilian boats which saved so many lives in May 1940 celebrated their final reunion.
- 1957: Britain exploded its first thermonuclear hydrogen bomb at Christmas Island in the Pacific. The test was carried out at high altitude over the largely uninhabited Christmas Island to minimise nuclear fall-out. The tests raised a major debate about the dangers of nuclear weapons and led to the founding of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmourment in 1958.
- 1988: The Soviet Union begins withdrawing its forces from Afghanistan nearly a decade after invading the country.
- 1859: Pierre Curie, physicist was born on this day as were L Frank Baum,(1856-1919), author of The Wizard of Oz and Madeleine Albright, U.S. diplomat and secretary of state (1937). ~ Pierre and Marie Curie warned against misuse of their scientific discoveries 'on the structure of matter by criminals who involve nations in war' 40 years before first nuclear bomb was used.
The Flotilla of Hope indeed carries our hearts, our concerns for those who languish in the detention centres of the Pacific Solution, and our grief for those who have perished under the Southern Cross. Stavros Georgopoulos of Hopecaravan, who has turned the dream of a Flotilla into a reality, is also a patron of JANNAH THE SIEVX MEMORIAL.
Some people believe when people die they become stars in the night sky. It would be comforting to think of the 146 children, 142 women and 65 men, who died in the tragedy of SIEVX, add their light to the southern sky. Because from ancient times mariners have navigated by the stars. If people believe in angels it is possible to believe that 353 angels will be watching over the Flotilla.
God speed Flotilla of Hope and a safe return.
