Sign the Kids Out Petition

The Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has released The Forgotten Children – a report outlining the systemic abuses inflicted on children detained in immigration centres around Australia and in offshore centres such as Nauru.

ChilOut have joined with GetUp, Amnesty International Australia, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Save the Children, Children's Rights International, the Human Rights Law Centre and Welcome to Australia, to raise our voices and speak up for kids in detention. We are asking you to join us. Share this video with your friends and family, and add your name to the growing list of people who will not allow these abuses against children to happen in our names. With your help, we can end child detention.

I heard Julian Burnside today talk about this issue. It is an inhumanity/injustice that has bothered me for a long time. Please stop this. Please.

The treatment of these children is inhumane and must be stopped. I am upset and sad that the Australian government takes what I consider a very un-Australian attitude to the treatment of all the asylum seekers not only the children. Tony Abbot and the rest of his ministry must not have been involved in the upbringing of their own children and if they did do not get what their children and all children deserve to be protected and cared for by not only their families but the whole world. The old saying it takes a village to bring up a child. I hope the Australian government helps these children and all asylum seekers so I can feel proud to be an Australian again!

In Australia we rightly have strong laws and public reaction whenever a child is abused in our country. Yet we allow this to continue. It must stop.

Australia this is child abuse. A Mum slaps a kid and faces jail. A government destroys a child’s life chances, mental health and safety and gets away with it! Stop locking up innocent kids for good. Theirs and ours.
